Cefnogi

Pronounced Kev-no-gee, it’s Welsh for support. When we rebranded from Ammanford Foodbank we wanted a name that better captured the full remit of what we do - having your back through crisis. Helpfully the first part of Cefnogi - ‘Cefn’ is the welsh work for back. Our name reflects how we help: having your back & supporting you through whatever tough time you’re facing.

History

Started in 2013 as Ammanford Foodbank, the goal was to show the love of Christ to those in need in a practical way, giving out food to those in crisis. With just a small team and one cabin to store food, Ammanford Evangelical Church led the way in founding the foodbank in the area.

The Vision

We long for a future in which everyone can access the support they need when they need it meaning that there is no need for Foodbanks or other emergency provision to exist.

Our Mission

Our goal is to help people before they reach crisis point so that their circumstances are able to change before things derail. Whether that’s helping them access other services, speaking up for change to prevent more people facing the same issues or providing emergency food when there’s no money left - all we do is driven by the goal of preventing poverty & giving back control.
